My career in photography began in earnest when I moved to New York City and photographed musician friends in the jazz scene. I had completed a Bachelor of Arts in Film & Video Studies at the University of Michigan, where I learned to tell compelling stories through images, and frame portraits as if I were filming a movie star. Jazz friends appreciated my style; I learned timing, anticipation, and improvisational skills watching them perform.
I also made a passionate study of analog photography, which had a lasting impact on my work. I’ve blended traditional and modern techniques and honed a style that is both timeless and contemporary, capturing the essence of each moment with warmth and artistry. When I’m not working, I love journaling, gardening, cooking, creating recipes from vegetables I’ve grown, and hanging out at independent coffee shops in Cleveland.
I believe children are brilliant teachers of how to be in the world. Working as a babysitter from the age of 15, I learned how to connect with kids and create a positive, engaging atmosphere. I now love combining my passion for photography with the joy of working with children, bringing their stories to life through my lens.
